The RNLI’s H2Only fundraising challenge kicks off tomorrow and to inspire people to drink nothing but water for ten days, Red Consultancy created a unique pop-up bar last week in Brixton.
‘The Bottle’ was open for business from 8 - 10 September and showcased ten different regional varieties of sea water with every bottle telling the story of a well-loved British or Irish coastal location and how its water can kill.
‘Cornish Surf’ was infused with rip currents, surging waves and slippery rocks which can create dangerous swimming conditions, whilst 'Thames Wash' featured fast flowing water which can lead to cramping, exhaustion and eventually drowning.
All of the water was hand-sourced from popular shorelines the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland - the same water the RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew members save lives from every day, with 7,973 people rescued last year. The sea water wasn’t for drinking so visitors were handed free bottles of mineral water to kick start their commitment to stay on the water for ten days.
Red secured great national and regional coverage to drive awareness and interest in the bar which was well attended and saw lots of people engaging with the campaign and signing up for th H2Only Challenge.
